Meow you doin?

Welcome to my blog!  Just a warning you will find NO affiliate links on my blog!  Sweet freedom!!! Ok today I have made a card for the lawn fawn challenge!  And let me say the spring inspiration board was very inspiring.

This is what I came up with.  It was pretty easy to envision.  My first Lawn Fawn stamp set that I purchased, the one that started it all, was cruising through life, so obviously I was going to use the bike form that.  And I've been wanting to use "meow you doin?" since I purchased it.  Then I just needed the connection between the two and flowers were on the inspiration board so I grabbed the flowers from "stinkin cute" and I was ready with a plan in my head!

I started by stamping my images from the stamp sets onto some smooth, white, American Crafts cardstock.  Using my acrylic stamp block of course.

Then I used my Zig Clear Color brush markers to color in my stamped images.  I stuck to, or as close as I could, to the colors from the inspiration board.  For the cat I wanted to do something special.  We lost out outdoor cat Mama Kitty.  She came to us several years ago as a stray with a litter of kittens, hence the name Mama Kitty.  She was never going to be a happy indoor cat and sadly like most outdoor cats you run the risk of then disappearing and not coming back.  That was the case with our sweet cat!  She was an orange and white tabby, so I designed the cat on my card to look like her.  I'm not usually too adventurous with my coloring but I threw caution to the wind with this one and I am really glad I did.  The cat turned out great in honor of Mama Kitty!

When i was done coloring I used my cuttlebug, which I love, to cut out my images.  I used A plate, the new magnetic plate, B plate, paper, dies, B plate.

After I finished cutting out my stamped images with the cuttlebug it was time to work with my dies.  I knew I wanted to do something interesting with the grass and I had to make a path for the bike to ride on.  So I puled out my road border and my meadow border dies.  I cut out my path with the road border.  I used the one that looks like a sidewalk.

Then I laid out the pieces of my card to see how I wanted to do the grass part.

Next, I cut out a solid piece of green cardstock for the background of the card.  Then I made a huge mistake and attached the path with adhesive.  After that there was a bit of a domino effect as I tried to fix my mistake.  I quickly realized that the meadow border would have to go beneath the path.  So I tried a number of things to avoid throwing away my card and starting over again.  I tried tracing the path on a piece of paper to cut the meadow border in the correct curve.  I just could not get it right.

So I decided I had nothing to lose and I pulled that path off the card base.  It came right off.  Only pulled a little of the base up but no worries, that was going to be covered back up bu the path anyway.  So I should have just done that in the first place!!!  Oh well!  You live you learn, right?  So I attached the sky, placed the meadow border underneath the path and continued on.  Next was the bike, cat and then the flowers.  For the bike I only attached the bottom part of the bike with adhesive so that the top part popped up a little to give some dimension to the card.  For the cat I used pop dots to make it pop up at a different height from the bike.  Then I attached the flowers.  popping some and gluing other straight to the cardstock.

So lastly, I had the sentiment to do.  I wanted to use hello for part of my sentiment because I could use that to cover up the unsightly seam in the path.  I used an A7 card and the path die was not long enough to stretch across my whole card to I used the first L in hello to cover it up.

I thought maybe hello spring or hello friend but I couldn't find spring or friend in my stamp collection.  So I enlisted the help of my friend Gina.  And she said, "How about meow you doing?"  the funny part was that I had thought about doing that before but hadn't told her that.  So I knew for sure, after she said that, it was the best one to use!  I grabbed out my Versamark ink, embossing powder and my heat gun.  I inked up the sentiment, added powder and heated it with my gun!

I attached it to my A7 card base and the result was this card!
