Hello and welcome to my blog! So happy you stopped by! Just a warning, you will see NO affiliate links on my blog. Sweet Freedom! Today I'm going to show you how I made a card I've been wanting to make for some time. I make lots of cards but very few get well cards. I finally made one!!! It took my Dad injuring himself....I won't get into details....luckily he is alive, well and recovering (not as fast as he would like to, but recovering). So hopefully I can make some more soon, without anyone hurting themselves, to have on hand. Without further ado, get well soon.
Ok so here is the finished product. I took two pictures of it because i thought from this angle that it might be hard to see that some of the pictures are popped up.
I have had this stamp set for more than a year, at least, and I have never even opened it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have others I have not opened either. In fact it happens, more often than I'd like to admit, that my friends get to some of my sets before I do. Don't tell my husband that!!! But that's how it goes sometimes. I finally opened it and I'm glad I did!!!
I knew I wanted to do a background with the stamps so I put them om my acrylic block in a shape I thought would be easy to repeat on my card. Then I used my memento ink pad on the stamps.
I placed my art mat on my table and stamped the grouping all over the base of the card.
Then I got out my Zig brush markers and started coloring.
I'll be the first to admit that picking colors that will go together is not my strong suit. I had originally picked a green color for the bird and when I colored the bird green it looked terrible!!!
I mean yuck!!!! But luckily my plan was to pop some of the birds so no worries!
These are the colors I used for the card, minus the green of course. Now the pens are a little pricey but I love them! Any brand pens will do though, of course. But I do highly recommend brush markers for coloring!
Next, it is time for the items I'm going to pop!!! I love to pop things on cards! I might be addicted to it! I had already stamped them and colored them in, as I was doing the others on the card. So it is time to pull out the cuddlebug (I love my cuddlebug!!!)
So my new favorite toy is the magnetic plate for the cuddlebug!!!! Yes you heard me right!!! no more washi to hold your dies down. Now the instructions say to do it differently, but I found for optimum use you should sandwich the plates this way. A plate, magnetic plate, B plate, paper, die and B plate. Then run it through and ta-da!
Now it's poppin time!!!! YAY!!!
Attach pop dots and place on card to cover up those ugly green birds :) And get some nice dimension too!
Don't you hate when you have worked really hard on something only to notice flaws in your work? the kind that would require you to start over??? Well no more! See the flaw above the pill bottle?
Dab a little bit of this miracle pen that my friend Rachelle turned me on to and!
Presto Chango!
Pretty good huh? It also works if you accidentally color outside the lines! I touched up a couple of more places on my card and then it was ready to take to my Dad in the hospital! Yay! And he loved it! Of course he was all hopped up on pain meds, but ill take it as a compliment ;)
