Ok so I had just picked up a new toy called colorburst and it is amazing!!!! It is featured on this card and the next card I'm going to blog. When I set out to make these two cards I only had a little while to work on them and I was so disappointed because I could have played with the colorburst for hours!!!!
I used ultramarine for this card since it was occurring in outer-space. I cant tell you how amazing this product is all day but you have to try it for yourself you won't even believe it! I got out my Fiskars and trimmed a piece of white cardstock, yes I said cardstock, I did not use watercolor paper for this!!!!!
Then I got out my craft mat, water pen, and colorbusrt. And the magic happened!!! I put a very small amount of the colorburst powder in my craft mat. I added water with my pen and I couldn't believe how vibrant the color was! I was instantly in love!!! I simply water colored on my cardstock with the water pen and the powder. I added more water where the color was too bright and played around with it until I was happy. I need to remind you again that this is regular white American Crafts cardstock not watercolor paper!!!
I let my paper dry and then flattened it out with my hands. After that I used the starry skies die from lawn fawn and my cuddlebug to punch out stars in all four corners.
Then I attached the piece of cardstock to my A2 card base with Tombo aqua liquid adhesive.
Then I had this
Time to color so I went to my go to pens. Zig real brush markers, worth every penny!!! Below in the picture you will see the colors I used.
Now that they were all colored in I needed to cut them out. I have to say this die set sent me to the craft store the first time I used it. The dies were so close together I needed to but a new wire cutter with an extremely thin nose to cut them.
After I cut out what I needed I used my new cuddlebug magnetic plate to line up my dies over my paper. No more wasted washi tape taping down your dies and no more wasted time doing so either!!! Also totally worth the $20 yes just $20!!!
So my other big complaint about this set is that there is not a die for the stars or the flame from the rocket. So I cut them out with my Tim Holtz small scissors (another great purchase).
I attached the flame to the rocket with my Tombo aqua liquid glue. Then I decided it looked dumb so i pulled it back off. the great thing about the glue is that it takes a few seconds to dry so you have some flexibility to move or remove an object before it is stuck there. A feature that has saved projects for me personally many times!!!
Now it was time to stamp my sentiment onto my card. So I got out my memento ink, acrylic block and my sentiment, You are OUT OF THIS WORLD ready. and I stamped it on and wiped my stamps clean with my shammie. Then I used pop dots (of course) to add my planets and astronaut.
Now I had this adorable card for my mother in law to send!!! Yay!!! I really love this card and my colorburst. Below you will find a supply list and plug for my local scrapbook store where I got my colorburst half off!!!! After I made this card, and the other one I will blog next, I went back to my local scrapbook store and bought the other set of colorburst. They are the great I'm telling you!!! gives me my sanity and I consider it my second home! So I have to put
in a plug for my favorite scrapbook store! As we all know many of our
local scrapbook stores are an endangered species. So if you happen to
be in town or want to order online please do! There are so many unique
products available. I would truly appreciate you supporting my cropping
haven!
