So Today I have for you my Lawn Fawn watercolor challenge card. And I have to say I love the way it turned out.
I started out with the idea that I wanted to do an outdoor scene with a character coloring in the scene. I was thinking I would use the birds from the Love Letters stamp set but when I pulled it out I realized that they had a fountain pen and not a paint brush. So I decided to use the Fairy Friends stamp set instead. And for the sentiment I would use the Color My World stamp set.
For the outdoor scene I decided to the the leafy tree backdrop in the landscape format.
I fully intended to use the Windy backdrop on this card but I'll explain why I didn't later on in the tutorial.
Ok so I had all my stamps and dies selected and out on my table. Next I had to pick a good blue color for a fall day. I picked a light blue from my American Crafts cardstock. I got out my watercolor paper. Any heavy weight watercolor paper will do. I found this pad at Tuesday Morning for a steal and it works great!!!
I got out my Fiskars trimmer and cut my watercolor paper to a size the would fit into my cuttlebug.
Then I got out my cuddlebug and layered A plate, B plate, paper, die, C plate and ran it through the cuddlebug.
Of course some of my leaves stuck in the die so I used my reverse tweezers to punch them out.
Then I was ready to color. I got out my craft mat and carefully selected the colors I wanted to use from my Tim Holtz distress inks. I got out my water brush, filled it up and was ready to go.
I used the colors below.
Then I made my first mistake of the card. I attached the leafy backdrop to the blue cardstock I had selected with my miracle tape. BEFORE I ran it through the cuddlebug with the windy backdrop :(
I was so mad!!! I implore you, please try it with the windy backdrop and don't make my mistake!!! I bet it will look so amazing!!! Even though I was very aggravated I had to move on so I did! I attached my hills with miracle tape. Then I used Tombo Aqua liquid adhesive to attach my leaves to my tree and the ground.
Now you might wonder, did she make another mistake? Nope! I left some of the leaves uncolored on purpose to show that the fairies are coloring the scene in. Next I used my fiskars trimmers to separate the two cards. Then I got out my memento stamp pad, my color my world stamp set and acrylic block. I stamped the sentiment onto the hill.
Now I was ready for some fairies. I used my ink pad once again and stamped some fairies. Then I colored them in with my Zig real brush markers. I love these markers!
Then I cut them out with my cuddlebug.
Attached their wands with the liquid adhesive and I had fairies!
Now to attach them to the card. Of course you know I have to pop them!!!
And there they are!!!! I have a card! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and come back soon to see another one! Below you will find my supply list and a plug for my favorite scrapbook store.
