Star Graduation Card

We had two college graduations this year.  Two friends of the family have officially become grown ups!  So I had to come up with cards!!!  Luckily I had just received my new lawn fawn puffy star die cuts, thanks to amazon and my sister (who had given me a gift card ;).
So I decided to do a layered star in school colors.  Then I thought I would add my lawn fawn congrats die too.
So I picked out the cardstock for the school colors.
And I ran the star and congrats dies through my cuttlebug being careful to use washi tape to hold the dies in place.  If you have not read and of my other blogs I LOVE mt cuttlebug!!!  It's small compact and cuts like a dream!!!
I decided to do the congrats die in two colors to give it depth.  So I ran it in both yellow and blue.  when I was done I had this:
Next I had to find a color that the yellow and blue would really pop with.  After putting them on several colors I decided on kraft.
I cut my kraft paper to size with my fiskars paper trimmer but any paper trimmer will do its just the kind I bought.  And it was time to attach my base star and congrats to the cardstock.  The congrats was very small and curvy and although I have used liquid adhesive in the past to glue things like this to paper I decided to make it easy this time.  I got out my xyron sticker maker.

I picked this little baby up at a yard sale at my favorite scrapbook store Scrappin in the City for $2!!!!  And I ran my congrats through it and instant sticker.  I stuck that to my craft paper and used miracle tape to stick my largest star on.

The result looked like this:
Then I got out my pop dots because I really wanted my star to "pop"!
There are so many brands of pop dots and they all work just as well.  I have not found one that didn't work for me yet.  I do avoid the ones that you have to punch out though just to small for my big fingers to manipulate.  Before I move on I just want to give a disclaimer the star popped so much that is was hard to fit into the envelope.  But otherwise it worked out so well!  In fact one of the graduates didn't even notice as the money dropped into her lap because she liked the card so much!  So I put a pop in between each star.

Then I added some sequins.  Yes I know they went out in the 80"s but they are back and I actually don't hate them like I do everything else from the 80's (I was a teenager in the 80"s what can I say).  I attached them with tiny glue dots.

I used my reverse tweezers to attach the sequins.

Then I used miracle tape to attach the card back to my card.
And here it is!

Our area is quite partial to orange and white so here is the card for my other graduate.

I am not an affiliate of my local scrapbook store but I love it!  It gives me my sanity and I consider it my second home!  So I have to put in a plug for my favorite scrapbook store!  As we all know many of our local scrapbook stores are an endangered species.  So if you happen to be in town or want to order online please do!  There are so many unique products available.  I would truly appreciate you supporting my cropping haven!
