Shooting Star Birthday Card

Welcome! Here I have my latest birthday card. Thanks to some very amazing women I was cropping with at Scrappin in the City my local (and favorite) scrapbook store I made this amazing card! November is my biggest month for birthday cards for friends and family so I went to my crop thinking that I needed to come up with a fabulous, but not too complicated, birthday card to make for the month.
As soon as I walked into the crop my friend Rachelle was making an amazing card with her watercolor stamps. The stamps were so cool!!! And she said I could play with them!!! As soon a I was done working on what I could of my Christmas card I took her up on her offer. So here are the watercolor stamps.

You can find these stamps here, this set is called DC abstract art.

So I picked out some bright colors from my Tim Holtz mini distress ink since these are paint splotches. These are the colors I picked.

Picked raspberry, peacock feathers, spiced marmalade, and mustard seed which just happen to be the ink pads in the Tim Holtz distressed mini ink kit 1.

Next, I got out my acrylic stamp block.

I attached selected a stamp and attached it to my block.  I highly recommend clear stamps as opposed to block stamps because you can see where you are stamping and with the clear acrylic blocks you have lots of control over placement.  then i took one of my ink pads and inked half of the stamp with it.
It looked like this:
Then I used another color to ink the other half of the stamp.
After I did that I took a spray bottle and sprayed the stamp to give it a watercolor effect.

Then I pressed the stamp to my watercolor paper.
I got this effect. As you can see i then did it a couple more times and added the comet looking stamp too.
Then it was time to add my words. I used these stamps.

These can be used with watercolor since they are so thick but i just wanted to stamp them in black so they would stand out. I used my memento ink pad.

I stamped the letters and it looked like this.
After looking at this I said to my friend Rachelle that it looked like a shooting star and she said, "I have a star!" She handed it to me and I popped it on. Then it looked perfect!
So as I was making my other cards my friend Barbara who was sitting across from me at the crop asked if there were other ink splotch stamps. And I said yes, having no clue what she was getting at. So she went on and said well couldn't you just put them all on the block and it would probably go faster. WOW!  Why didn't I think of that!!!  So I proceeded to get out my larger block and save a bunch of time on the last birthday cards I made for the month.
So you have it another card you can make. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will come back for another one soon! I want to thank Rachelle for all of her supplies and Barbara for her wisdom.

I am not an affiliate of my local scrapbook store but I love it!  It gives me my sanity and I consider it my second home!  So I have to put in a plug for my favorite scrapbook store!  As we all know many of our local scrapbook stores are an endangered species.  So if you happen to be in town or want to order online please do!  There are so many unique products available.  I would truly appreciate you supporting my cropping haven!
